Who I Am

Picture of Edee

I am 43 years old and grew up in Richardson, Texas, and Cambria, California. I graduated with honors from UC Santa Barbara in 1996 with a BA in Cultural Anthropology. After traveling and photographing in South America and Africa, I returned to Santa Barbara and freelanced for almost every local newspaper and magazine. Upon assisting a high-tech product photographer and two professional wedding photographers, I launched my own wedding photography business in 2002. I married in 2004 and we have two sweet little boys. We recently moved to Orcas Island, Washington.

I love love! I can’t believe I get to make a living as a fly on the wall, witnessing the deepest of commitments while documenting widely varying and stunningly creative rituals and decor.

I try to shoot a wedding in the way that I’d want my wedding to be shot. Tending to be as unobtrusive as possible and keeping a quiet rapport, I avoid being the director of the day. Aside from the formal, posed family shots I like to document what happens naturally rather than stage the event. I use several cameras and lenses to capture overall scenes and spontaneous close-ups, and I specialize in outdoor weddings.

Aside from photography, I love being outdoors, thinking up new adventures, surfing small waves, being around musical people, studying the bible, reading biographies of missionaries, and learning vicariously from other people’s experiences. I love interviewing and recently hosted a television show called Fishers of Men and co-hosted a radio show called Business and Technology.
