Collectible Christmas Ornaments

Lovejoy Homestead Chosen for Limited Edition Ornament

The Prairie Arts Council is pleased to announce it has chosen the Owen Lovejoy Homestead, a National Historic Landmark located in Princeton, Illinois as the subject of its third annual collectible Christmas ornament. In 2013 artist and Board Member, Melody Best, designed and organized the concept of the Prairie Arts Council offering a different collectible ornament each year depicting an historical building or monument in Bureau County. Produced in limited quantity, these ornaments are hand cut from wood and then painted and packaged to produce a one of kind collectible ornament. Last year two different historical sites were selected because of their special circumstances. The first was the Red Covered Bridge which commemorated its 150th anniversary, and the second was the Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on the Courthouse Square in Princeton which commemorated its 100th anniversary. There is a small quantity of both of these ornaments still available to purchase.

All three ornaments will be offered for sale during the Christmas mini-tree festival and throughout the year while supplies last. The Christmas mini-tree festival will run November 21 through December 7 and will be open on Wednesday 10 – noon and Saturdays and Sundays 1 – 4 pm. The Prairie Arts Center is located at 24 Park Avenue East in Princeton and is open to the public.
