ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

My name is Alan Stanley and I am a resident of Sheffield. Having moved to the country from the suburbs of Chicago I find myself fulfilling a lifelong dream of doing my art full time.

I learned early on that I had a talent for drawing. When I was in the 3rd grade I started winning drawing contests. As time went on I stuck with my talent and always made sure I was taking art classes in school.

In high school my art really started to flourish and that led to doing commission work for family and friends. I went on to win the Art Award my senior year at Grapevine High in Grapevine, TX and with that came a partial scholarship to the Dallas Fashion And Art Institute. As promising and as exciting as that was, life took me in another direction. I entered the working world while attending the local community college and soon realized that my art would have to take a back seat to everything else.

So here I am today at a point in my life where I can now focus full time on my artistic endeavors. I have worked in many mediums but I really enjoy oils. At the moment I enjoy painting landscapes, medieval architecture and wildlife. I like to incorporate detail into my work. That’s always been a part of my enjoyment of painting and drawing.

I’m grateful to PAC for the opportunity to showcase my work and to become a part of the art community here in Bureau County.
