The Prairie Arts Council will feature a glass blowing art exhibit during the month of September. The “Reflections” exhibit will showcase the original works of the following three artists:

 

Connie Two was introduced to glass as an art form after taking a series of stained glass classes. She found working with glass intriguing because of the way light changes the reflective colors of glass throughout the day. She often marvels about the innate feeling of wonder she experiences while creating art by taking clear, formless, hot glass and making something exquisite to enjoy and share with others. 

 

Cynthia Ashley's love of blown glass began in childhood and grew steadily until, as good luck would have it, a glass-blowing studio opened in Ottawa. She began lessons in 2010 and has taken them steadily ever since. One thing that Cynthia has learned is that if you can’t take the heat, get out of the glass studio because all the beautiful glass shapes and colors are forged and shaped by thousands of degrees of heat. Glass, with its inherently organic nature, never ceases to surprise Cynthia, and she is always amazed at the magic that she creates.

 

Kathie Kleckner has always been interested in the different types of antique glass and how they are produced.  When a friend and neighbor gave Kathie a piece of glass she had made, Kathy knew she had to try it.  While Kathie loves doing flowers and bowls, she also likes to experiment with items such as pumpkins, eggs, owls, trees and hedgehogs.
