Meet Mary Cassatt - An American Artist

Meet Mary Cassatt as portrayed by historical actress, Lynn Rymarz. Learn how Mary Cassatt grew up in a wealthy family in Pennsylvania with early desires to become a professional artist. Although her father objected to her career choice, she began studying painting at the age of fifteen. Discover her determination as she moved to Paris where she studied the master artists of her day. Learn of the budding group of artists she became a part of and how they changed her life as an artist. See samples of her art work and follow her life’s journey as she pursued her dream in becoming the artist she always wanted to be. Lynn Rymarz has entertained audiences with her portrayals of historical women since 2005. As a children’s author and storyteller she enjoys sharing little-known historical stories. Such stories have been published in the children’s magazines of CRICKET and HIGHLIGHTS. Her performances told in the first person have included Mary Pickersgill, Martha Washington, Susan B. Anthony, Mary Lincoln, Nellie Bly, Madame Curie and Eliza Dibble Sawtell. Lynn currently resides in Schaumburg, Illinois.

 Brunch will be served promptly at 11:00 am on the lawn of the Prairie Arts Center followed by the Mary Cassatt program in the auditorium. Brunch will be provided by Four and Twenty Café and Flour House Bakery of Princeton. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Price of ticket includes brunch and program.  Seating is limited. All tickets must be reserved in advance by calling 815-875-2787 or 309-872-3503. Tickets can be picked up at the Arts Center on Wednesdays May 6th and 13th between 10:00 am and noon
