Workshop "Watercolor for Beginners"

Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting, as well as different brush styles and techniques to achieve a desired result. Learn the difference between watercolor paper vs. sketchpad paper and what effects various weights of paper have on watercolor. Learn dry technique vs. wet technique and how to obtain varying shades of color. The class is intended for the beginner with basically no experience in watercolor painting.

Mary Michael is a retired art teacher from Depue where she taught grade school and high school art. She has over 40 years of experience teaching privately and publicly to all ages. She earned her undergraduate degree and master’s degree in art education at Illinois State University.

Please bring several different sized watercolor brushes to class. Paint and paper will be provided by instructor the first night of class.
