Joseph’s Polymers

I
don’t
remember
how I found
myself exploring
Sara Joseph’s website
on this Saturday morning,
but her relief sculptures
in polymer clay were
like nothing I’ve
seen before
:

Sara
works in
many styles
and techniques;
paint, pen, foil, etc.,
but I was really
fascinated by
the clay
.

This is
my imaginative
attempt to capture
in polymer clay the
moment in time
that changed
the world,
when
the two
Marys came
to the tomb of
Jesus to discover
something quite
contrary to their
expectations!

Polymer Clay
is pre-colored and
pliable, but cures
after baking in
an oven
.

really inspires
a feeling in
me

Sara says,

Developing
a heart of worship is
a deeply personal
journey

its shape from
our most private
conversations
with God

To
express our
individual hearts
of worship wordlessly
in the language of
art is a unique
privilege

I don’t
think I have
a heart of worship,

I was
hesitant to
include this next
piece because I
thought it was
abstract
.

Abstract work
seems to be at odds
with the theme of this
blog (biblical art), but
then suddenly I saw
the image
!!!

I liked about
seeing Sara’s artwork
online is that she’s willing
to share her thoughts
about it
.

am
convinced
that you have

.
The
world needs
your testimony,
your unique
point of
view
.
All
too often,
student artists
become so enamored
with the work of their
teachers that they
lose their own
voice
.
As a
Christian artist,
God has given you
your own visual
vocabulary
.
The more you
work in various media,
the more conscious you
will become of it
.
