…Illustrate the Bible
-=< O >=-
Looking
forward to the
Fiftieth Year Jubilee
of the State of Israel, its
organizers had the idea of
letting children draw the
stories of the bible
.
The invitation
spread around the world,
and artworks began to arrive;
thousands of drawings, etchings,
collages and paintings
from 91 countries
!!!
After it was over,
the website displaying some
of the images became defunct,
and I couldn’t find any place
to view them online
.
Fortunately, a book
was published displaying
some of the artwork chosen
by the curators for the
Jubilee celebration
January 1, 2000
(link below)
.
Here
are a few
examples

What I like
about the next one is
the happy facial expressions,
which is uncommon in
art about Genesis
.

None
of the images
in the book have any
commentary except
the last one
.
Maybe
I shouldn’t
add my own
.
Let’s simply
enjoy the art
!!!

The final image is the
result of a group project
.
A teacher in Finland got
his whole class involved

The children chose
what animals they wanted
to include, and suggested
a target area for each.
They spent about two months
on the project, discussing the
composition before starting,
and sometimes voting
on the details
.
There’s a lot to see here
:
I enjoyed seeing
all the tree stumps in
the foreground
!!!

and finally,
recognition for
the artist who created
the icon for this blog article
(detail from larger work)

Thanks to all the children
who participated in this project.
We are all richer for your
contributions

Thanks,
Very uplifting.
Those are really good for their ages!
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t draw like that when I was 11-12 yrs old!
