The Cemetery Club is a heartwarming comedy about three Jewish widows who meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves has been on Broadway and made into a movie.
Ida is sweet tempered and ready to begin a new life; Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun; and Doris is priggish and judgmental, particularly when Sam the butcher enters the scene.
The play is funny and poignant. Audiences will love to spend an evening with these golden girls.
The play is directed by Dixie Schroeder (Princeton), assisted by Jennifer Walk-Dudek (Hennepin). It features local actors Josh Bush, Shelley Gorenz and Karin Hansen of Princeton, Lisa Gifford of Peru, and Laurie Anne Innis of Ladd.
Written by Ivan Menchall the play is produced by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc and is funded in part by the Prairie Arts Council, Illinois Arts Council and The Princeton Closet.
