BibleProject

A virtual tsunami
of biblical art has been
rolling out of BibleProject
since it began in
2014
.
That was the year
Dr. Tim Mackie & Jon Collins
teamed up to start making
short animated videos
of bible books
.
Combining Tim’s deep
biblical understanding and
Jon’s passion for visual storytelling,
they have now completed the entire
Read Scripture series of videos
,
one for each book
in the Bible and two
overview videos
(OT & NT)
.

All of the videos in
the Read Scripture series
have a similar format:
We watch an artist
draw a poster as
the narrator
summarizes
the book
.
By the time
the story ends,
the poster is finished
.
Here they are with
a fancy slider frame

These
videos are
a wonderful
introduction
to The Bible
and they are
given freely
to the world.
Every word
of the narration
is thoughtfully chosen,
with a beautifully executed
visual aid
unfolding
in tandem
with the
reading
.
The Bible Project
rebranded as BibleProject,
is creating an extremely valuable
library of accessible video content
(plus reading plans & study notes)
desperately needed in the world,
delivered to anyone who wishes
to have them, and growing in
new directions with the help
of many volunteers and
financial contributions
.
The result is
a complete collection of
introductory, explanatory
summaries of scripture
and its biblical
themes
.

I
believe in
this project so much
I wished that I could have
worked with them on it!
(but a wish is all it was)

We started supporting them
with a small monthly donation,
and as an appreciation gift
they let donors choose
a poster print
.
I chose
“The Gospel
According to John”
.

The Gospel According to John

I know
the image above
is too small to see, but
I wanted to give you
an idea of what the
posters look like
.
Here’s a portion
of a different poster
that is easier to read
.
This poster is from their
Introduction to the
New Testament
video
:

BibleProject,
New Testament Overview”
(excerpt)

Truly,
you should hear
the narration and watch
the graphic image develop
as the story unfolds to
really appreciate it
.
I’ll try to link one
that matches the
poster above
:
(hope it works,
fingers crossed)

Regardless,
here’s a link to the
YouTube Channel

Now that the
Read Scripture series
is complete, BibleProject
is moving on to other
biblical themes and
animation styles
.
Here’s
a still from
the “Holiness” video

Here’s
one more.

Looking forward
to the next release!

One more thing,
BibleProject has a podcast!

and
(ok, two more things, ha)

Dr. Tim
has released a series
of his former sermons
in a separate podcast
:
“Exploring My
Strange Bible”

in their
own words
:

BibleProject
is a non-profit
animation studio that
produces short-form,
fully animated videos
to make the biblical
story accessible
to everyone,
everywhere
.
We
create videos,
podcasts and study
guides that explore the
Bible’s unified story
by focusing on its
overarching
themes and
each book’s
literary design
.
We are committed to
understanding the Bible
in its historical context
and communicating
its wisdom for the
modern world
.
Ultimately,
we want to change
how people read
and use the
Bible
.

Our mission
is to help people
experience the Bible
as a unified story
that leads to
Jesus.
