Obsidian Eclipse

This
was a fun
little painting
to remember our
trip to Cancun,
a
“double-date”
with Aunt Nancy
and Uncle Russ!

We
had a
wonderful
vacation at a
beautiful resort
with lots of good food
(including Hawaiian pizza
and sushi, as shown above, ha)

We enjoyed
learning about
the Mayans at Tulum,
where the ruins of their
ancient temple are
.
We
also
visited
a Mayan
village where
Their local shaman
blessed us. It was our
33rd wedding anniversary…
(I Love You, Cyndi!)

We
learned that
the Mayans had a
sophisticated calendar,
and could track the sun and
planets in the daytime by
looking through obsidian,
a black volcanic
rock
.
I tried
to paint a
solar eclipse
through an
obsidian
disk
.

We have
great memories
of our trip together.
Thanks, Nancy and Russ!
