Why God Created Electricity

It seems appropriate that the bible
would start at the very beginning.

The first verse,
of the first chapter,
of the first book
of the bible
says

GENESIS 1:1
“In the beginning,
God created the Heavens and the Earth”

Let’s think about that first sentence…
Moses probably wasn’t trying to write a
Science Book
but that first sentence suggests a lot.

The word
“Beginning”
suggests the concept of
TIME

The word
“Earth”
suggests the concept of
MATTER
(substance)

The word
“Heavens”
suggests the concept of
SPACE
(a place to put it)

Is it any wonder
that scientists ALSO see
our environment
As a universe of
SPACE
and
MATTER
?
Unwinding its way through
TIME
?
And that it had a
beginning
?

Is it valid to think that the
first verse
in
the bible
could also mean
“Time
began
when
God
created
Space
and
Matter”

?

That first sentence also suggests that
If God exists
then God exists
OUTSIDE
the creation.
That seems important to me.
They are distinct.

It means that even without
the creation
God
would still be
God

Let’s think about
the creation

WHAT IS IT?

And more importantly,

WHY IS IT?

Some people believe that
everything is accidental.

A
crazy
random
happenstance

but others believe
God had a Motive.

The
bible
says something else
about
THE
BEGINNING

JOHN 1:1
In the beginning,
the Word was
with God,
and the Word
was God.

Trying to interpret that sentence
using the everyday English word
“Word”
is difficult to
understand
The “word” was God?

But the un-translated
Greek Word
is
“Logos”

The Greek word
logos
means
“The Reason”
or
“The Underlying Motive”

That makes it more meaningful to me.
God
is the
underlying principle
behind it all.

It makes me wonder about
the creation
I wonder about
the motive
Logos
Logic
Why Did He Do It?

If God is Real,
What does He want a creation for?

I think I can get closer
to addressing the
WHY IS IT?
question
by better understanding the
WHAT IS IT?
question

For
WHAT IT IS
I have to turn to
Science

Some would object!
On the fact that many
Scientific Theories
are
proven wrong
or
have to be revised
at a later date.

They might say
“Our understanding of
the world
evolves
with each
new discovery
And so,
belief in
science
is
unreliable,
because it
changes.”

(right?)

I disagree with that.

I maintain that
most of the
mistakes
are on the
frontiers
of
science
where scientists are working in
Unknown Territory
Trying to understand
and interpret
the
NEW

But there’s a lot
we
KNOW
For certain.
As well as can be known.

Science is taking the
known
applying it to the
unknown,
predicting the
result
and
learning
whatever comes of it.

It is my assumption that
God didn’t give us
Reasoning Minds
and expect us NOT to use them.
He doesn’t
test
our faith
by planting
false evidence.
He isn’t trying to
trick
us

I believe,
If there IS a God
He is Truth.

but
back
to
The Question…

WHAT is the Creation?

Let’s start with the basics.
One of the
foundational
building blocks
of science
is our understanding of
atoms and the elements.
It’s no stretch of the imagination
to realize that although
Glass and Water
are both
clear
they’re made of
different materials.
We know that
Gold is heavier than Helium.
We discover that
Copper conducts electricity
and Rubber doesn’t.
We learn that
Iron is magnetic
and Aluminum isn’t.
Some things are known!

Science and Faith
are not
conflicting
on these subjects.

So let’s think about
what we know,
or at least our
best understanding.
In our working model of
the world.

The atom
is the smallest amount of any
material.

An
atom
has a glob of particles in the center
called
the nucleus
which is composed of
protons and neutrons

and

the nucleus in the center
is surrounded by
a field of electrons

A “well-balanced” atom will have
one electron
for every
proton.
A proton has a
positive charge
and an electron has a
negative charge
so the charges are balanced.

The universe is always striving for
Balance

Atoms
of different materials
are the
SAME SIZE
but what makes
different
materials
different
is that they have a
different number of protons
in the
nucleus
and thus have
different
Mass
and
weight

Different materials
are called
Elements

A chart of all of the
different types of
atoms
is called
The
Periodic Table
of the
Elements

Helium
is an element that has
two
protons in the nucleus
Oxygen
is an element that has
eight
protons in the nucleus,
so Oxygen is
heavier
than Helium

Simple.
(elementary!)

When you see a picture of
an atom
it is usually drawn like a
cluster of balls
in the center,
with electrons in orbit
around it
like
planets
around the sun

But they really aren’t much like
planets.
They’re more like
points.

Points
of
electric charge.

If an Atom was
blown up
to the size of a big
football stadium,

The Electrons
would be around the outer edge
of the top row of seats,
each one
smaller
than
a
pinhead

and

The nucleus
would be a
cluster
in the
center
of the field
smaller
than
peas

What’s all the stuff
between
the
pinheads
and the
peas?

Nothing!

What you don’t see in
The Drawings
of
Atoms
is the amount of
Empty Space
between
the electric charges
and
the nucleus

Not air.
just…
EMPTINESS

Like  more than
99.999%
emptiness.

So if you removed
electricity,
If you cancelled out the
electric charges,
What’s left would be
almost
Nothing

A college professor of mine
saw me leaning against the wall one day,
and as he passed by
he slowed down
long enough to say,
(and this is his quote)

“If you don’t understand
that when you are
leaning
against
a wall,
that it is really
electrical fields
pushing back at you,
then you don’t know how
the world
works”.

That comment had a lasting effect on me,
because
it’s easy to understand
that
the outer shell of atoms
are
electrons
so
we can only
touch
the electron field

but

Until That Day
I had never really
thought about
the fact
of the
matter

That the whole world is an
electro-magnetic
structure

What we are
leaning against
or
standing on
or
sitting on
or
lying on
or
being propped up by
is
electro-magnetic fields
(and gravity pulling us toward them)

The more I think about that comment,
the more profound it seems to me.

Anyway,
We’ve used this
atomic model
and
Periodic Table
of
elements
to describe most of everything in
the physical world;
everything from
why the sun burns the way it does
to
how photosynthesis works.
(and a whole lot of other stuff)

It Works

The more we learn about reality
the more it resembles an
electrical structure.
Suspending the finest wisps of
material
imaginable.

If
God
wanted to
end it all
an interesting way to do it
would be to simply
cancel
the effect of
electricity
The universe would collapse
into a mist of the tiniest particles
Ashes to Ashes,
Dust to Dust.

that
God
could simply
cancel
electric fields
to dissolve the world
is just
speculation
on my part.
It’s more likely that
His Way
will be nothing like
what I could
imagine.

The point is,
that to the best of our
understanding,
a large part of what we
perceive
is interacting
ELECTRICAL FIELDS
operating at different
strengths
and
frequencies

A Matrix

If electricity ceased to exist,
the universe couldn’t
BE

Invisible forces like
GRAVITY
and
ELECTROMAGNETISM
hold everything together

Let’s turn our
attention
to the way we
PERCEIVE
the world.

What triggers our
eyes to see
and our
ears to hear
are
FREQUENCIES

The perceptions in our brains
are running on electrical impulses.

When we are hearing
sound
we are converting the
pressure waves
that are hitting our eardrums
at different frequencies.
An eardrum is just a tiny membrane
that’s vibrating.
The vibrations are sent
Into The Brain
along nerves
operating on
electrical impulses
and our brain does a phenomenal job
of converting those
vibrations
into
meaning

Symphonies,
danger signals
and
conversation
are some of the
meanings
assigned to various
vibrations
of your
eardrum

What you are
seeing
with your
eyes
are
light waves
hitting your
eyeballs
at different
frequencies

The cells in your
retina
are converting the
frequency
of the
waves
into
electrical signals
which are carried along your
optic nerve
to your brain
and your
BRAIN
is mapping those
electrical signals
into
colors,
building a
mental picture
out of the light
your eyes are detecting.

So here’s an
Interesting Question;
Do substances REALLY have
different colors?
OR
is it just the way the
light waves
are being
interpreted
by your
brain
?

Consider this example:
pure carbon atoms
can take the form of
a lump of graphite,
which is
black and opaque

and

pure carbon atoms
can also be in the form of
a diamond
which is
clear and transparent

But they are both
EXACTLY
the same substance
Pure Carbon

The
light
reflected
by the two different
carbon structures
is affecting the
retinal cells
in your eyes
in different ways,
and
your brain
trying to make an
accurate model
of what your senses are
detecting
even though you are looking at
the exact same material
in both cases

Well,
let’s not waste time
wondering whether
color
is just a figment of our own
imaginations
because
common sense
tells us that
most of us
are seeing
the world
in a similar way,
which is what really matters.
We can compare notes to discover
that generally,
graphite and diamonds
look the same
to both of us.

We share a common experience of
how we’re
perceiving
The World.

So the question itself is not important,
but its interesting to think about
What’s Really Going On
behind the scenes.

When you consider the
reality
of the
situation,
You realize that
Your Brain
is literally
floating
in the dark

Think about it.
your brain
is totally
closed off
from the
rest of the world
except for
a few
tiny
little
openings
for
blood flow
and
nerves

Except for those
little ports,
your brain
is
separated
from
the rest of the world

It’s surrounded by a
thick protective skull
of bone
and
suspended
in a nice warm liquid

The reality is:

Your brain
is
floating
in the dark
constantly
updating
a
Mental Model
of what
The World
is like
based on
Electrical Inputs

This concept might be
difficult to comprehend
because everything seems
So Real
We’re stuck in the simulation.

“The World”
is an
electrically-based
structure
and
your
understanding
of
“The World”
is an
electrically-based
interpretation
of it
in
your
brain

Mastering
the
True Reality
behind it
might look like
Miracles
to the ordinary

But don’t get me wrong,
my goal is not to belittle
creation
by making it seem
less
than it is.

No.

Just the opposite.
Life is a Miracle
and the logic behind it
is endlessly fascinating to me.

I’ve only been describing the fact
that the universe is
electrical
in nature,

BUT
the title of this little essay is
“Why God Created Electricity”
What’s the purpose of it?

WHY?

The first question I ask myself is,
If God wanted companions,
Why didn’t he just create us
In His Presence

?

One answer might be
that by being
created
in
His presence,
it is more difficult to
know
who is there
By Choice.

For example:
If you have always been
wealthy,
it is difficult to know
who your real friends are
and who is merely
attracted
to
The Wealth.

By being created
AWAY
from God
to begin with,
it becomes
OUR CHOICE
if we decide to be
with Him.

This preserves
Our
Individuality

I think it also provides
a way
for us to discover
ourselves.
Being trapped in this body
keeps us distinct
as
individuals
long enough
to mature.

We can think of
Our Bodies
as
Temporary Containers
or
“Earthen Vessels”
or
“Jars of Clay”

I see
the world
as kind of
a womb
for
spirit
in
Physical Community

Then we are
born into
the next life
of
spirit
in
Spiritual Community.

If
a
spiritual
existence
and the
presence
of God
was
proven
and
undeniable
then only the
insane
would refuse it

so

God
separates
Himself
from
US
to
allow
our
freedom.

Allowing us
to
decide
for
ourselves

In my belief,
the primary purpose of
the world
is to give each individual
a chance
at
Free Will
and
Individuality
allowing
each of us
to make
our own
decision

Hopefully
our bodies last
long enough
for us
to find
God
and to start
a relationship
with
Him
before it is
too
late

I hoped to get people’s
interest
by using the title,

“Why Did God Create Electricity?”

The real point I wanted to make
was that
I think God used
electricity
to create a temporary
“holding area”
for us

The World
is
a place
for us to
mature
as individuals
preparing ourselves
for a more
intimate
communal experience
in the
Kingdom

WHO
among us
will
SEEK
Him

?

I also believe
that this
Initial Separation
From Him
serves to
identify
the people
who are
not willing
to participate
in a
future
community
With Him

Who
among us
will
DESIRE
His
Companionship

?
